What time is it?

Hows everyone? Me? Good, lack of sleep though 4hrs in 2 days or is it 3 weeks I don't know its all blending together, I am starting to believe that my child might have a touch of colic, but since I've never dealt with it Im not sure, he crys a lot ALOT, and to calm him down you have to hold him real close on you and pat him on the butt or back firmly and just rock back and forth and he'll eventually fall asleep but as soon as you lay him down anywhere he starts screaming like he's in pain, my Mom says that I had colic for 3mnths when I was born and I cried all the time, her and my grandma took turns holding and rocking me, I know its not that he's spoiled because at the hospital he wouldn't sleep in a nursery bed he had to be up against you which makes me second guess my colic theory he couldn't have come out with colic, could he? I don't know anybody that's dealt the colic route please clue me in, I've always heard that colic is backed up gas but he has gas all the time both ends but to make sure I bought some Mylicon just for good measure, I don't know what else to do, in order for me to get a little 30 min nap I sleep on the couch with him on my chest his hours at night that he gets up are getting better he gets up at 11, 2 and 5 but the problem with that is he'll finally fall asleep around 8 at night BUT it has to be on the couch on his stomach so while he's snoozing im catching up on stuff that needs to be done then when he gets up at 11 I feed him which I might add takes awhile because he's picky, ex: I breast feed 1st ill start say the left well he'll latch on then pull off and start screaming I try to get him back on he aint having it so I switch to the right he latches on and is perfectly content for ohhhhhhhh 10 min then he'll pitch a fit again so I switch again, and he's happy again well this goes ect ect , till finally he starts falling asleep Ill burp him lay him down all of 10 min then its screaming time again so I make a bottle and give it to him he'll eat on that then fall asleep for the duration of 2 am then this about the time that my 100th wind is done and im ready to pass out and he gets up and for the next hr I do the feeding fight again, then at 6am when he's finally back out again I cant go back to sleep because I have to get my oldest 3 up and ready for school, take them to school come home and its time to feed him again by this time my 20 cups of coffee have kicked in and im wired doing the dishes or folding the laundry watching all the reruns of Full house or Roseanne then when my clock is running out guess who gets up? Yep that's right! AGHHHHHHHHHH ok that feels better, Well ** yawn** he's finally out again Im gonna try to relax .........

I don't know much about colic, but I've heard it's around the same time everyday, for a couple hours and there's NOTHING that can be done, except let them cry it out. I've also heard that it's normally in the evening.

Now, the breastfeeding thing, I can help you with. I worked as a breast feeding counselor, so here's my theory. 1st, when you put him on the first side and he gets frustrated so you put him on the other side, that's a good thing. He sounds like he's very impatient and gets frustrated waiting for your let down. So, by putting him on the other side, he'll get the milk, and then when you put him back to the original side, the milk is there and he doesn't have to wait. One thing about breastfeeding and bottlefeeding from the get go, they get nipple confusion. With a bottle, he doesn't have to work at getting his milk, but when breastfeeding he does. 2nd, your 20 cups of coffee could be affecting him too. What you eat affects your breastmilk. Caffeine (chocolate, coffee, sodas, etc.) and broccoli are big culprits that cause gas. You might take a real hard look at what you're eating to see if that is what's bothering him.

2 of mine have/had extremely sensitive stomachs so I have/had to be careful of what I eat/ate. Also, I let them sleep on their stomachs and both of them sleep much better that way.

Hope this helps. Hopefully he'll feel better so you can get some sleep!
